Passover 2024

Another dreadful year just ‘passes’ for the Jewish nation as a horrifying addition to our history books. Once again we’ve reached the Jewish Holiday of Passover. After the terrifying atrocities of 2023, the loss of loved ones and the trauma that invades our daily life, during Passover 2023   we will with heavy hearts follow traditional Holiday customs. This year however, many family and friends will not be able to celebrate together. Many families will be unable to celebrate in their once homes, many will not be able to celebrate at all. Supermarkets shelves will still be covered to hide all the chametzPesach 2017 in Tel Aviv-Haggadah2 items and kosher bakeries will closed.  Cafes and restaurants will still adapt their menus to a to a Pesach version. Passover 2024, unlike any other, reminds us how vulnerable we are as a Jewish people. We are captives of indescribable terror and subjects of outrageous anti-Semitism all over the world.

For Jewish people everywhere in the world, Passover is a very significant festival. As one community we come together on this ‘holyday”. It’s a holiday for remembrance and thanks. We gratefully acknowledge our liberation from slavery in Egypt. We celebrate our freedom as one nation and we are each reminded of who we are and why we exist.Pesach 2017 in Tel Aviv-Haggadah3

This Passover 2024, the Seder table will be shared with our loved ones, both in close and distant proximity. Physically or virtually, we will together read through the Haggadah (the “telling”). The text will carry us through the traumatic Pesach 2017 in Tel Aviv-Haggadah4biblical journey from ancient times. It will also remind us of the traumatic journey that we are all suffering once again today.

Passover 2024, for me personally in Tel Aviv, will be a time for reflection. I shall celebrate the brave Jews in history, but most of all of those more recently who have suffered or are still suffering. I will give thanks to those who fight with hope in their hearts and determination to save the Jewish nation. This Passover 2024, I will give thanks ask with humility for strength, good health and the will to to carry on during this nightmare.

Sweet friends, when you celebrate Passover this year, give thanks to our ancestors and to all those that are helping the Children of Israel to survive now.

Passover in Israel begins on the evening of 22nd April & ends on the evening of 30th April 2024

♥Enjoy a Sweet and healthy Passover 2024.
