The gallery in question is called Sommer Contemporary Art,which resides inside a beautifully restored building adjacent to the many cafes and restaurants which line the leafy boulevard.
This gallery was established in 1999 by Irit Fine Sommer. It not only represents and exhibits local and international modern art works but, has made a commitment to promote Israeli artists within the global forum. It prides itself on the special relationships and collaborations it forms with the artists and boasts of unique displays which would not otherwise be seen in other venue. On this particular sunny afternoon jaunt in Tel Aviv we were in for a sensory treat when we stumbled upon the first solo exhibition in Israel of artist Peter Halley.
As art is a very personal issue, each of us seeing a painting from a different perspective, enjoying the balance, the subject, the color and the emotions it unleashes I will not attempt to describe the paintings of Peter Halley.
However, I would suggest that if you are wandering along Rothschild Boulevard, have a little time to spare, want to spend time contemplating something beyond the usual, then do pop into the gallery and take a look for yourself!
