I take pride in the Pride Parade. Tel Aviv has a thoroughly modern and pluralistic society with a vibe of youthfulness and a buzz that I have found nowhere else in the world. It’s vibrant with superb restaurants, artisan cafes, hip clubs, culture and great retail outlets. Often fondly called “the city that never sleeps”, Tel Aviv still manages to retain the endearing charm of a neighborhood. So which other city would be as suitable for the Pride Parade!
The concept started in the late 1990’s as a smaller and more intimate gathering but has now exploded into something so tremendous that we all want to be part of the action!. My memories of last year are of the streets flooded with people from all walks of life, dressed in flamboyant or colorful outfits, (with some sweet shoes to die for ) booming music, singing , marching and dancing, happily energizing the City . Vehicles used as moving stages with darlings in drag (eat your heart out Priscilla..). This is a joyous and exciting celebration of gay friends from all over the globe, but truly a grand party in Tel Aviv for all.
This annual fest will commence from Tel Aviv Me’ir Park (Gan Meir) at 10:00am waking up to music, drag shows and speeches ( in which order I don’t know..) From the park, the pulsing parade will move through Tel Aviv finally ending at the beach for the infamous party!
The Parade will no doubt include amazing floats, superbly designed costumes, memorable full on music and a spectacular amount of happy, carefree people! I am sure there will be fun in the sun, heat on the beach and a crazy day will be had by all! Cheers!
