Running a marathon is no easy feat. It takes extraordinary energy, immense willpower and extreme determination.
A marathon is not only about physical exertion it is a test of mental attitude. Overcoming the weaknesses of the body with pure adrenalin of the brain.
The highly exciting, long awaited and highly promoted Tel Aviv Marathon is a superb city event which brings together a community in a common goal. It has a momentum which starts from the moment it is published and continues to climb until the actual day of the run. This tremendous build up is as important for the community spirit as the event itself.
However, today’s Marathon, 27th February 2015 was a sadly tainted. Due to the unseasonable heat ( the weather has been cold since January except for today..) the organizers were forced to cancel this great event in mid morning after a number of runners suffered injuries, some of whom were taken to hospital . I wish them a speedy return to good health.
It is my understanding that most of those that ran the half Marathon completed their mission but approximately 500 people running the full marathon were unable to complete it.
So I say to all of those who competed, no matter if you ran a full distance , completed the half distance or a few kilometers, did it in breakneck time or at a snails pace, the fact that you competed in my eyes each of you achieved Super Sweet Success!
